Who can use this service?
The program is available to anyone who is undergoing a cancer diagnosis or active treatment. Additionally, the program will be open to anyone who is currently providing care for a cancer patient.
How long can I use this service?
While there is no set time frame, this service is designed for the short-term, (six weeks or less). It is not meant to be replacement for regular, ongoing childcare.
Who can attend day care? When and Where?This program will be open to children three (3) months through twelve (12) years of age. Drop-in day care will be offered at any of the nineteen day care facilities from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. After school programs are offered at schools throughout the city until 6:00 p.m.
What about evening or after hours care?Prior arrangements must be made by calling the Child Crisis Center, 562-7955. The space is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. The Child Crisis Center is located at 2100 N. Stevens St., El Paso, TX 79930.
What will I need to provide to the child care facility?Program participants will be asked to comply with all YWCA restrictions and requirements.
How much will this service cost me?This service is free of charge to eligible participants through the generosity of the YWCA's of El Paso.
What do I need to do?Contact the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation’s Program Officer, Jutta Ramirez for referral to the program and contact the YWCA child care location of your choice to enroll your child(ren).
