Thank you for visiting the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation website. We have made some changes to our award-winning website* and invite you to browse through the many links to avail yourself of cancer information and local resources.
Just a few facts about who we are and what we do:
- We are a homegrown El Paso organization. Established in 1996 from the proceeds of the El Paso Cancer Treatment Center sale, the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation exists exclusively to serve the needs of our local cancer community.
- The majority of the Foundation’s distributions support qualified, local non-profits whose mission is related to cancer. Look over the wide-ranging list of grantees by visiting the link titled GRANTS. We are proud to fund projects which provide for quality of life, education, support services and cancer prevention.
- We are governed by a board of directors; a stellar group of individuals who give freely of their time and talent. Their information is accessible through the ABOUT RGCF link.
- In addition to funding grants in the community, the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation has several of our own programs, the most visible of which is The Green House. Named in tribute to Leighton Green, Jr., The Green House is a comprehensive cancer library. Take a look at our library sites and complete bibliography by visiting THE GREEN HOUSE link. We welcome you to stop by our main branch located at 10460 Vista del Sol; curl up on the couch, have a cup of coffee or tea, and browse through our books, videos, and audiotapes.
- Other PROGRAMS are explained through this link --The George Ball Childcare program, the Patient Transportation Program, and the Wellness Workshops schedule are available here.
- If you are looking for opportunities to give back to the cancer community, link onto VOLUNTEERS and find out how you can help.
- We have added a link to our newest publication In The Know: Understanding the Cancer Experience which features stories of interest about people in our community who have experienced cancer, either as a patient, a family member, caregiver or friend. Contact us about becoming a subscriber to this free, quarterly magazine.
*The Council on Foundations, a Washington D.C. based, national organization has twice award the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation website for excellence in navigation, content and accessibility.
