RGCF - Volunteer Position DescriptionsTreatment Clinic Aide (Weekdays)

Treatment Clinic Aides help to support the staff and patients of the El Paso Cancer Treatment Centers. Volunteers will have the opportunity to ease the burden on patients waiting for and receiving treatment by connecting them with resources, ensuring their comfort and providing emotional support. Volunteers help things run smoothly by assisting patients and staff, directing patients to the treatment location and simply anticipating the patients' needs. Volunteers will also make certain the patient waiting areas in the clinic and hospital are kept well stocked with books and current magazines. Volunteers may also assist patient in selecting wigs and hats. Volunteers must have good customer service skills and be self-motivated. Available at El Paso Cancer Treatment Center East and West Locations.

Library / Research Aide (Weekdays)

The Library/Research Aide volunteer assists patrons who visit the library by providing brief orientations that explain the functions of the library. This volunteer assists patrons who lack internet experience by explaining the basics of Internet searching skills and/or sits with patron to help conduct research for patron. They also extend courteous service to the restrooms and the coffee bar. This volunteer conducts research for patrons who call in or stop by with a request for information to be mailed to their address or ready for their next appointment. This volunteer signs up new patrons, hands out information about the Green House and checks materials in and out of the library. Volunteers may also assist patrons in selecting wigs and hats. The volunteer in this position must have good customer services skills, be self-motivated, and possess knowledge of internet usage and basic computer skills. Available at all locations.

Receptionist (Weekdays / as needed)

The volunteer Receptionist answers phones, refers callers to local assistance programs, directs library traffic, performs miscellaneous office tasks i.e. file documents, archive newsletters, fill pamphlet racks, assist in mailings, assists patrons if no one else is around. Volunteers must have good customer service skills and be self-motivated. Available at the Del Sol Location.

Public Events Representative (Weekdays / as needed)

This volunteer assists the Volunteer Coordinator in representing the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation and The Green House at Health Fairs, Community Functions and special events. This volunteer assists in the set-up and breakdown of any booths or major displays that promote the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation and The Green House. Volunteers must have excellent customer service skills and be comfortable speaking in public. Available at all locations.

Workshop / Support Group Host (Weekends / as needed)

This volunteer opens the facility and accommodates participants at any workshops or support groups associated with the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation and the Green House.
